Description
Offered here is the original Jeff Hawke daily H5270 by Sydney Jordan. This strip comes from the story 'Some Day I'll Find You", which appeared in the Daily Express from 21 April 1971 until 17 July 1971 (strips H5255-5330).

Jeff Hawke becomes involved when he learns that a group of individuals, called "Abbots", has lost their memory or identity and has been "rescued" by benevolent aliens, effectively disappearing from Earth's records. These people live in a protected, somewhat isolated, community or "hospital" in space.

Hawke takes on the challenge of tracking down one specific individual: a former racing car driver named Jim Cordway, who was officially declared dead in a fiery crash at Le Mans twenty years prior. He searches many locations, possibly including Jupiter's moon Europa, where some of the action in surrounding storylines takes place. The title was intended to show the difficulty and the personal nature of his search for Cordway.

The story focuses on the emotional and philosophical aspects of the search, and touches on questions of whether those who have been "saved" or given a second chance by extraterrestrials should be returned to their previous lives, and the impact of the past on the present.

I should add that Sydney incorporated more nudity in these later storylines, and the middle panel features a topless woman swimming with Mclane.

The original is rendered in pen, brush, and ink with zip-a-tone. It has an image area of 15 x 4.25" on a larger (16.5 x 5.5") piece of 4-ply artboard. The art was done 53 years ago but is in excellent shape; note that the word balloons were added during production and have discolored somewhat. The original was signed by Jordan in the lower right margin; he has also put story notes on the verso.

As always, shipping is not included in the price. I prefer checks and money orders as payment. I can accept Zells, however, if you need to use PayPal I need it sent as a "Gift" or "Friends and Family". I apologize in advance if that is an inconvenience.
