DescriptionThis original 36" x 25" airbrush and acrylic on board illustration was used to promote the 1984 science-fiction neo-noir cult movie Trancers from Charles Band's Empire International Pictures/Full Moon Features. The aesthetically 1980s design features Jack Deth, played by Tim Thomerson, in his signature trench coat, sporting an embroidered Angel City Police Department badge.The painting adorns various poster styles and home video releases both domestically and internationally, as well as even a tin lunch box sold by Full Moon's official store. One part Blade Runner (1982) and another part Terminator (1984), the Christmas-set film follows the wisecracking 23rd century police detective as he travels back in time to 1985's Los Angeles to stop the psychic criminal mastermind Martin Whistler, who has the power to zombify people into violent slaves known as "trancers." An early role for Helen Hunt, Trancers flourished into a full-fledged franchise with five direct-to-video sequels and a short called City of Angels, and is considered one of the flagship titles in Full Moon's library, alongside Puppet Master (1989) and Subspecies (1991).
