Hank Porter - Donald’s Nephews - Donald Duck & Huey, Dewey and Louie - 1938 - Publicity Drawing

Gorgeous promotional drawing (pencil & colored pencils) by Hank Porter (initialized in the right lower corner), for the Disney short ”Donald’s Nephews”, which was the triplets first appearance in Disney animation and released on 4/15/1938. It was based off their comic strip debut on 10/17/1937, created by Ted Osborne and Al Taliaferro. This drawing showcases one of their more dangerous pranks - lighting a firecracker under Donald's chair - and is the same prank shown on the theatrical poster for the short. The final inked version of the illustration was later also used as the artwork for the 2003 Disney Treasures card for the short.
