DescriptionSomething new for the New Year. But the story goes back to last year, and the Secret Santa that some of us collectors participate in. After I found out who I was gifting to, this concept immediately sprung from my head, like Athena, fully formed. But who could execute such a thing? Enter the most excellent IC3 and an introduction to Jeremy Hyler . Jeremy had already delivered me a killer commission , and I knew his versatility and creativity would be a perfect fit. Jeremy was indeed up to the task and delivered an absolute banger. It was so good that I knew I wanted one for myself. We caucused and spent quite some time thinking of the right characters. For the original gift the characters were a no-brainer - they were part of the idea - but now we had to think a little more. Spidey/Peter/Venom were options, as were Vader/Luke. I knew the sharp lines of the sketch cards would limit any transition that could be achieved from card to card. When Terminator came to mind, Jeremy and I both knew it was the right choice. While the idea was mine, Jeremy has done all the heavy lifting. Give him a follow and commission some artwork! I'll be very curious to see if any other artists undertake this kind of piece and what that might look like. Interactive art - it's very groovy baby! yeah! Later Quaids! P.S. If you'd like to participate in the Secret Santa this year, drop me a message. Social/Sharing |

I've just gleaned all the cards, It rises to the top
I never need a flip 'cause dolphins for art
A Hyler bet on Terminator
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger
Trying to play me out like as if my name was Sara
But I ain't going out like no punk sketch
Get used to fun style and yo Arnold might switch
Flip up up and around, then back back you down
Put out your best and then your fate's up it's the Dawn of the Dead
I'm coming to get ya, I'm coming to get ya
Spitting out comics Arnie Skynet ya
I came to get cards, I came to get cards
So get IC3 and flip around!

LOVE IT, M L! Again, you take it all to a new level with your approach to "commission as high concept"! :) Such a wicked fun idea, and it is -easy- to see how much joy it gave Jeremy to, um, execute. After your sequential Manix Galactus framing job, I can't help but think how you'll do this one... Will each card get its own frame in a lattice-work mounting that allows them to be individually turned over? (More importantly, will you require the viewer to say, "I'll be back!" every time they flip over a card from front side to back side?). Another scorcher of a commission idea, M L - great pick up!

That's interesting - I never saw frame/s for this - I more envisioned sharing them for tactile experimentation.

It's such an original concept to begin with, then you have Judgement Day level execution from Jeremy. The end result is fantastic and it makes me think about which other characters this would work for. I especially love the mixed battle damage version but the entire thing works! Congrats innovator!

Such a clever concept and awesome execution. I could easily see so many characters getting this treatment. Jeremy is excellent. This piece can't be bargained with, it can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity! Or remorse or fear and it absolutely will not stop!... ever... until you are dead!

A) Do you post it to CAF and then place it under the proper category at year end Best Of awards? Turn to page 17.
B) Do you get framed and hang on dining room wall so you can look at every time you eat a plate of Kale. Turn to page 63.
C) Do you immediately put on EBay and try to turn a profit on thoughtful gift. Turn to you are going straight to Hell.
