Description
Princess Mononoke Guard and Ashitaka animation Drawing (Studio Ghibli, 1996). From the gripping introductory part of Princess Mononoke, we have in this lot a rare hand-painted production cel showing our protagonist, Ashitaka, still with his long hair, and an Emishi guard. Astoundingly detailed, this 13.5" x 9.25" drawing presents the two characters on the collapsing watch tower, with the final image appearing at about the 3:53 mark of the film. This piece of production art is numbered A10 in the top right corner, showing an image size of about 8.75" x 8", showcasing the remarkable thoroughness of Studio Ghibli, seen in the exhaustive rendition of the structure.

The best of traditonal animation!  Even as Toy Story changed the game, Studio Ghibli was the most advanced of 2D animation we could get with that human tactile feel.
