DescriptionI went on sort of an acquisition spree with this series, picking up over a dozen fantastic pieces so far. Here is a Sunday from May 7, 1972.Here, in a seaside village, Danny Raven attacks the kidnapper of a woman with the shovel the kidnapper threatened to bury the woman with after he kills her. A great opening panel, then straight into action. Lovely faces, and a really fast pace. Nice Sunday.

Thanks. I agree that opening panel is brilliant. McWilliams really poured the details into that opening panel, laying out the scene perfectly.

Really cool as this was barrier breaking for the times! Must have been very satisfying for audiences to see a black leading man done with such respect.

It must have been!
When Sydney Pointier and Bill Cosby made their trio of Uptown Saturday Night films, I always liked the Pointier character more because of the respect his presence commanded. Cosby's character was a great and important part of the series, but Pointier's character was That Guy.
Danny Raven feels a lot like Pointier in those movies. Ironic, given the fact Dateline Danger was modeled after Cosby's tv series, I Spy.
