The textural work here is next level. Klein’s use of heavy blacks and fine inking creates such a moody, oppressive atmosphere. That silhouette panel in the bottom tier is a masterclass in visual storytelling. A standout page from a definitive modern run.
Agreed. Klein does a great work of creating volume with his tones and line work (reminds me of another favorite of mine, Olivetti, although they do it differently). Beyond his rendering, as you note, his storytelling, and what I would describe as ability to create atmosphere, is amazing.
