DescriptionContinuing our celebration of the new year and artists new to me is also an extremely fitting way to remember our friend Dan T on what would have been his 51st birthday.Dan was a champion of emerging and lesser known artists, and he was constantly clueing me in to talent on instagram and at conventions. I found Celso's art while sitting in for Snorek and choosing art for the update. Doing the picks is a time consuming and somewhat laborious process, but it's always rewarding, and it's rare for me to walk away from the process without discovering a new artist and/or acquiring some art. I saw a Magik commission that Celso had done and knew I wanted something of my own. Celso has a great eye for detail and composition. I reached out and shortly after I had this lovely, dynamic piece in my grubby paws. I recommended Celso to some friends and I've been seeing some fantastic commissions start to trickle into CAF, and that's a win for everyone. "Remember, remember the 15th of January." Awesome piece, that dino is so good! I've been really impressed with the commission pieces from Celso that have popped up on CAF (Matt Kennedy and EC's pieces recently come to mind as well) and this is no different. Congrats on the great result and a heavenly birthday to Dan (I re-read V For Vendetta for the first time in quite a long time over the holidays and thought of Dan a lot then as well).

Normally you'd put your money on the dinosaur, especially one this fearsome, but... The angle is great for showing the rows of razor sharp teeth.

Very nice! Dan would have imagined the T-Rex eating Cyclops before this encounter.

That's one badass dino, but I'm not sure he stands a chance in this matchup. Nice commission and even better write-up!

What? You can fight dinosaurs and manage to keep all your clothes on? Does James know?

Detail and composition. You nailed it. And so did Celso. Incidentally, the package doodle seems to be a prelude to your "one-minute-later" scene. Haha!

Sadly, this Jurassic Park redux was doomed from the start!

Many's the time I've seen commissions
And many times confused
Yes, and I've often felt for Logan
Who's certainly misused
Oh, but I'm all right, It's all right
I'm just weary to claw bones
Still, you don't expect to be bright at comic con
So far away from home
So far away from home
I don't know a soul who's not been battered
I don't have a friend who feels Mazine
I don't know a dream that's not been shattered
Or driven to Dan T
Oh, but it's all right, it's all right
For we've lived so Celso's on
Still, when I think of Dino we're traveling on
I wonder what's gone wrong
I can't help it, a wonder birthday song

Such a fun piece and in remembering Dan T through his spirt to support new talent is even better!
