This image is promotional artwork for the popular 1990s animated television series Gargoyles. It was created by the renowned master airbrush illustrator Joe Spencer. This image was used extensively for various merchandise, including posters, trading cards (like those from the 1995 SkyBox set), and school stationary, to advertise the show.
One of my favorite cartoons growing up it was a breath of fresh air in the 90's Disney animated output which I hold in high esteem with batman and the x-men the animated series.
The primary characters depicted in the image are the surviving members of the Scottish Wyvern Clan, who were placed under a magical stone sleep for 1,000 years until their castle was raised above the clouds in modern-day Manhattan.

They are still very popular because of the stories in the 90's show! Pieces like this were so slick and popped with imagination! Seeing it now touches upon a nostalgic pull!

I'm with you in that in terms of quality TV for "kids", nothing could measure up to either Batman or Gargoyles back when.

(And that opening theme with the voice over? How intense!)
