Steve Purcell - Sam & Max, Freelance Police

Here are your favorite anthropomorphic freelance police, Sam & Max. Max is the rabbit (as if you didn't already know!) with the razor teeth. Sam & Max was a fun comic and LucasArts PC game. Remember Wack a Rat? Hours of fun!

I picked this drawing up (and the others in this gallery) at my first Wonder Con in 1997 directly from Steve Purcell. I was surprised to see Steve at the show (probably because I didn’t read the show program) and even more surprised he had art available for purchase! My brother and I loved the LucasArts PC game so much, I had to immediately call him from the show floor (from a pay phone) to tell him Steve was at the show and he had ART! We were both just starting our first jobs out of college and didn’t have much (if any) disposable income, but we decided to buy all the drawings he brought to the show. I recall Steve mentioned Mike Mignola told him he should bring some art to sell...thanks, Mike! After the show, we kept in contact with Steve and picked up a really cool large illustration of Sam and Max that was used for a magazine.
