Description
This atmospheric page from Chris Bachalo’s run on Captain America is given extra weight by the bold, sculptural inks of Tim Townsend. The scene trades spectacle for unease — Cap posted at a barbed-wire fence while a lone figure studies the water, framed by wide horizons and too much open space.

Bachalo’s staging leans into restraint, while Townsend’s blacks lock the figures into place like monuments. The lower tier tightens the moment with profile shots, hard expressions, and that quiet little stick clenched in the man’s mouth — the kind of detail that makes the pause feel loaded instead of casual.
One of those pages that doesn’t rush.
It just holds the moment.

This particular run was my introduction to Chris Bachalo, and it rewired how I thought about superhero storytelling — moody, cinematic, and quietly experimental in all the best ways. I’m genuinely over the moon to finally own a page from this era.
Huge thanks to the fellow CAF collector who was willing to part with it. Pieces like this don’t change hands lightly, and I’m incredibly grateful it found its next stop here. It’s one of those pages I’ve chased for years without quite realizing it… until suddenly, there it was.

This page does read well!  Bachalo's storytelling says a lot here with Cap revisting WWII battlegrounds and feeling the weight of fellow soldiers who lost their lives.
