Batman 681 pg. 25 "Batman RIP" Conclusion

These are the type of pages I hunt with marksmen-like precision!!

Batman escapes the Black Glove's elaborate death traps and at last, Batman gets to confront the mysterious Doctor Hurt. The last time Batman saw the evil Doctor was in the pages of Batman 156 when Batman volunteered for a week long military experiment that the then unnamed Doctor Hurt led. Little did Batman know, Doctor Hurt implanted post-hypnotic trigger words in his mind that led to the events of Batman RIP.

On this page, Doctor Hurt tells Batman that he is Thomas Wayne, Bruce's deceased father. This is when Hurt says the infamous "hole in things" statement that will lead to another Grant Morrison rabbit hole. Batman RIP lays the foundation for Doctor Hurt aka Thomas Wayne aka El Penitente as a legitimate foe for the Bat-Family for years to come.

Great era of Batman with Morrison and Daniel!  That was the combo that built out the 00's during the popularity of prime Bat movies.
