X-TREMISTS #1 Cover of Psylocke (1:50 variant)

A few things called out to me when seeing this cover was available. For those that know it, I seem to have a strong affinity towards Psylocke (both Betsy Braddock and Kwannon). I also really enjoyed most of the Age of X-Man world, specifically this series which started off so well. So getting a cover from a #1 issue of a series I enjoyed with a favorite character featured on the cover was an easy decision.

I am not very familiar with Emanuela Lupacchino’s art, but she appears to be quite prolific in the work she has done for a variety of books and companies, especially for doing so many covers. Her style reminds me a lot of Terry Dodson and Nick Bradshaw.

This cover has some beautiful stylings, showcasing Psylocke’s psychic knife abilities with shredded ribbons of that energ. she is standing in a heroic pose in front of an image of a big Eye with an X, which is the insignia for this title series. On the published cover, you can see the words ALWAYS WATCHING which is the role of this X-Factor type of group that investigates and deals with LOVE that is unforbidden in this realm. The color work with all the pinks and purples is also a real fun treat for the eyes.

I recall getting this Psylocke cover around the same time as my Psylocke #6 cover (by Maleev) and so they both kind of tie as my first Psylocke cover piece.
