Description
Incredible Hulk #181 Cover Re-Creation by Herb Trimpe. One of the most recognizable covers from Marvel's Bronze Age, and possibly the entirety of modern comics in general, from the first appearance of Wolverine! To say Incredible Hulk #181 is a key issue is an understatement, as Wolverine has become a pop culture icon and household name, celebrating his 50th year. Trimpe has done many re-creations of the image of the deadly mutant slashing at the Green Goliath with his Adamantium claws popped (and Wendigo raging in the background), which are in great demand and garner attention from collectors worldwide, but this piece was specially produced for "The Art of Marvel" auctions at Christie's auction house in the mid-1990s. Trimpe even perfectly hand-drafted the logo/header/text of the cover, a part which is usually left to stat paste-ups. This is likely the best/most accurate re-creation of the iconic cover since Trimpe's original rendering in 1974! Ink over graphite on illustration board with an oversized image area of 13.5" x 20.5", matted to 21.5" x 28.25". Signed by Trimpe in the bottom right margin. Description from Heritage Auctions.
