Description
George Washington has a new contingent of soldiers to help him cross the Delaware, as we approach America's 250th birthday.

This is definitely of my very favorite Chad Hardin covers, and I pretty much love every one he does.

I particularly like how Wanda is using her hex powers to break the ice.

Essay question: Can Thor fly (with his hammer) slowly enough to match the speed of the boat without dropping out of the sky? Discuss.

(Personally I think the camera caught him just as he was zooming past everyone below)

Extra credit: How do you think the Revolutionary War would have played out had the Avengers been involved?

This is such a fun cover, loving the Maverlized patriotism here!  As for your questions:

  1. Since we can't see the stern of the boat, I propose that Quicksilver is off camera pushing, therefore they are keeping pace with Thor.  This might also account for why Wanda looks alarmed, like she can't believe how fast she has to break up the ice.
  2. The Avengers, with power sets of present, fighting an army from the late 1700s?  No contest.  BUT if they were limited by the technology of the time?  Then...  Cap is scrawny, Hawkeye is just a dude with a bow (still) but with normal arrows, Vision can't exist, Tony Stark just has a goatee going for him but I'm not sure Wanda is impacted and Thor would still be a god.  So probably still a decisive victory but perhaps only as fast as chain lightning could defeat the Brits.

VERY COOL!!!!!  Obviously the war never would have lasted as long if we had these guys in the ranks.

I don't think this can be considered an homage, as it's not one of the Avengers standing in Washington's place. Washington is actually there, and the Avengers are sailing along with him! More of a What If? scenario. Either way, it brings exactly what you want from a cover like this: Fun!

Thor can fly in slo mo for those romantic shots so his hair and cape can stay in the frame.

I don't think I would have ever come up with this homage to a classic painting.  Really wonderful cover!

Happy 250th to America! 🇺🇸- what a great cover to commemorate the milestone - hard to imagine you have something better to post when July 4 comes around! Nice one Paul.

I probably should have waited until July 4 haha!  It was great seeing you at OAX.  I hope you heal up quick.
