Art is an unproduced back cover design for Vanguard Productions' 1990 book The Comic Book Makers by Joe Simon and Jim Simon (see signed hardcover edition w/Captain America original art in this auction), which was ultimately passed over for different but similarly composed art. Art shows Fighting American and Speedboy leaping at left w/tumbling images of Captain Marvel, Captain America, Superman (both Captain Marvel and Superman are cleverly disguised so as not to fully show their designs) above image of Joe Simon at his drawing desk, working on a Fighting American drawing. A stack of comic art can be seen in the foreground (including a smaller version of this larger image, which is colored stat). Simon has signed art at lower right. Left/right margins of art have been taped off w/masking tape, image area measuring 18x24". Illustration board shows edge and corner tip wear, w/.5" tear at lower left corner. Small colored stat has scattered age spotting. If matted and framed, art would display VF.
