CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!Large 14-3/8x21-3/8" artboard features original pen and ink art by Stan Goldberg (1932-2014) for splash page 54, published in Millie the Model Annual #1 by Marvel Jan. 1962. Of note, this was the very first Annual issue published by Marvel, a tradition that continues to this day. Titled "Millie's Sensational Sports Clothes" ("Millie's" portion of text being pasted stat while all else has been hand-lettered), Art features paperdoll-like image of Millie standing at left, surrounded by seven different outfits in addition to the swimsuit design she wears. All outfit designs (and even Millie's hairdo) were submitted by readers, who are credited in hand-lettered blocks beside fashions. Hand-lettered text block at bottom right urges readers to "Send Your Sports Clothes Designs To: Millie The Model," going on to provide the address for Marvel's offices. Bottom center has been signed by Goldberg, who also added the name of Marvel Editor-In-Chief Stan Lee. Top margin has grease pencil title, issues number and year. Back of artboard has Comics Code Authority inkstamp. Artboard is lightly aged and has a few small edge stains at lower right corner. Art remains clean and VF overall.
