CLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!Lot of 19 artboards, each measuring approx. 11x16" and featuring pen and ink original art by comic book artist Kurt Schaffenberger (1920-2002), best known for his work on Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family (during both the Golden Age and Silver Age of comics), as well as his work on the title Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane during the 1950s and 1960s. Offered here is the complete story art for this issue's first story, "Clark Kent - The Grooviest Guy In Smallville," published by DC Comics Feb. 1982. Story was written by Cary Bates w/inks by Dave Hunt. Story details Clark Kent missing his girlfriend Lana Lang's birthday party to fight crime as Superboy. Lana's uncle has unwillingly supplied crooks w/technology to pull off heist and Clark becomes irresistible to Smallville's female population. In his secret identity, Clark is attacked, nearly revealing his secret. Clark Kent appears in total of 33 panels while he appears as Superboy in 24 panels. Pages have inked/penciled editorial notations at margins w/publishing paste-overs at bottom margin of first page. Pages have been slightly trimmed and each page has three .5" to 1" corner clips, but these issues do not affect art or text in any way. Scattered handling wear w/aging along margins. Fine overall.
