This past weekend (2/28/2026) I was lucky enough to attend the AZComicArtFest (AZCAF) here in Arizona where one of the guests was illustrator Aaron Campbell.

To be honest I was drawn to his painted works when I ended up finding this gem in the interior pages he had for sale. Aaron describes it as his effort to emulate Dave McKean. The colored art is an aggregation of a literal stack of physical photos he took of various images he created at various angles and focal points then aggregated them together to create the underlying base image. From there he printed out that page and embellished the art with paint, ink and other tonal enhancements in a traditional manner.

The images of Constantine are all traditional pencil/ink.

For the record, not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to Constantine. I'm familiar at best. I have not read this story arc (but I will now).

From what I do know of the character -- this embodies his mannerisms, attitude and smugness that is one of the biggest draws of the character.

It's just fun to look at too.
