Congratulations! This was high on my list and I just had to let it go in lieu of some other pieces. I feel so much better about that decision now knowing where it went and that you were a previous owner. Make sure you share pictures of that frame once it gets done.:)

Cool Nate Powell page that I'm sure you love and appreciate for "reasons" and have a strong personal connection to for additional "reasons". And/or it was a pure squirrel that you just had to have...because you had your reasons! That said, I'm here to comment on the artwork right now and I likely will miss those reasonings and commentaries unless I feel the call to return here to find out...later...after you get home.

managed to get words on paper. Look at me! Adulting.

I was on the fence about this one as well, this must be amazing in person!!!!

To paraphrase Teri Hatcher in her episode of Seinfeld -- "It's real and it's spectacular." I don't understand how someone colors this deeply in art.... I need to get my 6yo a better set of crayons. :)

Lovely seeing this finished pice! This piece is actually called "Chance meeting in the Veldt", and was done to be made into a limited edition print, published by Kitchen Sink. Later Mark sold the piece to someone, hence the dedication. Classic Schultz!!

Whoa! That's some great background on the piece! Makes my decision to invest in the work for my son even better. Thank you for sharing! I would love to chat you up some time to learn more on how you have this knowledge. 🙌

nice Cloak & Dagger piece for sure...don't be mad at me for saying this next part though. the 20 year wait where you have to remind the artist you're due a commission and the thing that spurs up that rememberance being a brand new sales/commission opportunity really rubs me the wrong way personally. I understand the better late than never mentality and being greatful to finally get the piece, but that is sort of ridiculous to put people through. Did you actually pay for it 20 years ago?

You're 100% correct. I waited almost 10 years to get a commission from Skottie Y that was of the wrong character only to watch him churn out his daily sketches for sale. I would see him every year and remind him only to be told that he was " busy but working on it." Currently Mark Millar owes me  a published piece of art from his personal collection I won in a charity auction. He says he will refund me but then broke off communication with the broker of the charity.

I did pay for this commission back in 2006. Compared to today's prices. It was relatively inexpensive even though it was a good chunk of change for me at the time.

This is why I tend to stay away from commissions. I've been burned or put on the back burner too often.  In this case it worked out. I think that. Terry 's style has matured since then and the illustration definitely shows it. He could have easily told me to go fly a kite but stood by his word and paid engagement even though it was from when we were both much younger men.
