My Hand-Drawn Ink Recreation of Transformers Regen One #84 Cover.

This recreation-- of Andrew Wildman and Jason Cardy's original cover for IDW Comics' TRANSFORMERS REGENERATION ONE #84 (2012) a is hand-drawn in ink by veteran of the comics industry STEPHEN BASKERVILLE (that's me, folks!). I was also the interior ink artist on this entire comics series, as well as working on the original Marvel Comics Transformers series in the 1990s.

Many 'recreations' of classic comics covers out there are simply 'copies' of the published line art-- but this is not the case here, for two reasons: Firstly, the published cover for this had a more of a 'painted color' and less line-based appearance than your average comic cover. And secondly, I like to interpret the original art in my own inking style rather than just producing a dead, line-for-line ‘tracing’ of it. My aim was to achieve the richness and variety of marks and textures found in a full-color painting with only the black ink on white paper to work with.

That's what makes this unique piece of comic art a one-of-a-kind recreation-- or, as I like to call them-- a ReInkArnation!

PLEASE NOTE: This unpublished cover recreation is entirely inked by hand by myself, over a pre-printed 'blueline' copy of the published cover art. This is exactly the same process I used to ink all the published pencil art in this series, as it leaves the original pencils untouched. The only other part of the cover not hand-inked is the logo and 'trade dress' which has been pre-printed onto the 240 gsm Bristol board prior to inking.
