Fantastic bronze age monsters and lovely page layout!
Incredible work by Rival! The lighting is wonderful, especially in the third panel, and the final panel composition and the villain's expression are superb. The acquisition might have been mundane, but the story of the hunt was a great read. (I've been looking for one of these myself... but I'd better not ask.)
Good thing he wasn't fighting the Big Bad Wolf.
Congrats Steve! Thanks for sharing this great page and backstory.
Amazing page with great imagery and lighting! I love to hear about a longterm art quest that is finally achieved - that was quite the patient wait you had to get it, congrats on finally making it happen!
Those forest mushrooms are a bad trip.
Suave page that has found its forever home!
I had my own annoying encounter with Edleman many years ago, where I even offered to find and trade him TWO nice pages from comics he wrote in exchange for the one he had that would complete a short story I owned. Given that as a writer, he benefited by simply being in the industry during a short lived period in which writers were undeservedly being given art that should rightly have been given back only to the pencillers and inkers, his selfishness really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Anyway, I'm glad to see you finally got one of these babies, and it's a great one!
Love acquisition stories like this around a beautiful piece of artwork. Congrats.
Very cool page. That final panel is brutally gruesome
Congratulations on getting this! It's a real beaut!
Congrats on acquiring something that you've wanted for so long...How sweet it must be!!!
I think we've all been there, looking for that special page, never believing it would EVER become available and then one day, Voila!" Great to hear!
