Ultimate X-Men #43 pg 15/16 (Finch art, Miki inks, Bendis story) - Havok and Polaris 1st Appearance DPS

From Ultimate X-Men #43, New Mutants part 4 storyline, comes this DPS page of art by David Finch and Danny Miki; featuring 1st appearances of Alex Summers (Havok) and Lorna Dane (Polaris). This splashy character headshot x2 (that is on just one regular 11” x 17” comic art board) is a great backdrop to a really fun story page, where Emma Frost is meeting with the President and helping them construct a new team of Mutants to be in opposition of Xavier’s X-Men (to educate and and be role models, instead of Xavier’s mutant army).

This is my second Finch piece of art, ideally more to come. I’ve enjoyed his various runs on X-Men, Wolverine, X-Men Unlimited and especially Ultimate X-Men. His detailing and character posing/stylings have really create some fun dynamic artwork. Even in just these character busts, you get the spirit of these carefree mutants, which was appropriately selected to appeal to the President; but through the series you learn otherwise. The dialogue on the published page, is quite fantastic. The constant repeat from the President for “No Magnet People”.

Ideally I’ll come across the overlay pieces to add to this page and my collection, but for now getting these two characters busts and first real entry into the now then Ultimate Universe is a great addition to the collection. The Ultimate X-Men series, still stands out as a fun place to continually revisit.
