Description
Doctor Strange #7, p11, pencils by Gene Colan, inks by John Romita Sr.
11"x17" comic art bristol, cut down to slightly smaller.
We've been looking for a nice representative Gene Colan piece inked by Tom Palmer, and have been somewhat focused on either Dr. Strange or Tomb of Dracula, but a friend of ours picked up a page from Dr. Strange #7 with John Romita inks on Colan's pencils. We really liked it and added it to the wish list, but with only the one issue with that combination of artists, my hopes weren't too high.
When this page came up for sale though, it didn't take much thought before pulling the trigger.
It's a bold action page with some classic, creative panel shapes; where there are even panels ruled out at all! The flow is terrific and energetic and; while definitely a different style to Tom Palmer, I really love what Romita brings to the piece.
Very happy to have this in the collection.

Yes, the woman's face and the razor cuts are definitely the Romita touch of glamor that permeates rest of the page over Colan's dynamism!
