Description
Series: JLA: Classified Issue: #21 (2006) Story Arc: "The Hypothetical Woman" (Part 6 of 6) Artist: José Luís García-López (Pencils) / Sean Phillips (Inks) Description This page is a masterclass in superhero "skirmish" storytelling. It depicts the Justice League engaging the distorted, twisted reflections of themselves created by General Tuzik. 1. Original Pencil/Inked Board (Top Left) Details: Original art featuring the legendary draftsmanship of José Luís García-López. The "Artist's Artist" of the DC universe delivers incredibly fluid movement, with the gritty, textured inks of Sean Phillips providing a modern edge. Visuals: The page is packed with high-tier action: Wonder Woman and Flash (bottom left panels) are in mid-combat with their counterparts. Batman (top right) is shown in a soaring, dynamic strike. Superman (bottom center) is locked in a classic powerhouse grapple. A haunting closeup of Martian Manhunter (bottom right) shows him reacting to the psychic or tactical chaos of the battle. 2. Lettering Proof (Top Right) Details: The DC Lettering Department production sheet by Pat Brosseau. Context: This proof shows how the dialogue was woven through the complex combat panels. It highlights the banter and tactical callouts that Gail Simone scripted to heighten the tension of this final showdown. 3. Final Published Page (Bottom) Details: The printed comic (Issue #21) showcasing the final colors by David Baron. Significance: The coloring helps the reader distinguish between the JLA and the "Hypothetical" versions of the heroes, using lighting and secondary hues to separate the many moving parts of this dense battle scene. Technical Notes Page Position: Page 3 (The first major action page after the recap). Markings: Clearly labeled "JLA CLASSIFIED 21-3 INTERIORS" in the top margin. Condition: Exceptional preservation. The original board shows the raw energy of the pencils beneath the heavy ink weights.
