Two people see their loved ones die in a mutual crash accident but are given the choice by advanced aliens to bring them back to life in exchange for their own deaths twenty-four hours later.

This is a great piece... it sets up the whole issue. The touching moment of the two people being brought back to life is immediately contrasted by the stark fact their loved ones will need to forfeit their own lives as payment. A soul for a soul.
