This piece exemplifies, to a significant degree, what makes Jones's female portraits so compelling. They are real, natural, sensual, classic. They are not overt, prurient, offensive. Providing the former in the absence of the latter, and doing so iin a sseemingly effortless application of some lines and color to a surface always amazes. The figure is 14 inches tall, graphite and oil washes on watercolor board.
