Neel by John Amor

This piece is part of a larger collection of comic art sketch cards that represent friends I have met along the way in the comic art hobby. Some were chosen because the collector seriously focuses on that character, and others simply because I noticed a piece in their gallery and wanted to see a sketch card interpretation of that character. I decided not to name names, leaving the collection open to interpretation, since it reflects the community as a whole and the shared connections that make this hobby meaningful. Each card is a tribute to the friendships formed, the generosity of fellow collectors, and the joy of discovering characters through someone else’s passion.

John Amor absolutely blew this mystery sketch card out of the water. There is no doubt why John’s pieces won Best Of in the mystery sketches last year. The lighting and depth are perfect for a portrait of Neel. I love the background with the red and blue lighting, which gives you that unmistakable Star Wars feel against the black setting.

This is not quite a Revenge of the Fifth piece since Neel is not a Sith Lord, at least not yet lol, but it is still a perfect piece to celebrate a Star Wars-recognized day.

This piece was inspired by a fellow Neel Nation brethren. He has been incredibly kind and supportive of my collecting over the years. He is not only a rep, but someone I recently learned grew up near relatives of my nephew on the opposite side of the world. It just goes to show how connected we all are, not only in the OA community but in the world at large.

Whatever this day means to you, I hope you make it a special one. Overcome fears, explore something new, and keep moving forward with the people you care about, just like Neel. And if you end up a Sith Lord, well then there's that too lol.
