Optimus Prime by Ryan Odagawa

This piece is part of a larger collection of comic art sketch cards that represent friends I have met along the way in the comic art hobby. Some were chosen because the collector seriously focuses on that character, and others simply because I noticed a piece in their gallery and wanted to see a sketch card interpretation of that character. I decided not to name names, leaving the collection open to interpretation, since it reflects the community as a whole and the shared connections that make this hobby meaningful. Each card is a tribute to the friendships formed, the generosity of fellow collectors, and the joy of discovering characters through someone else’s passion.

Ryan Odagawa absolutely captured the power of Optimus Prime with this card. I can easily imagine a group of Autobots standing at the ready beside him, prepared to take on a wave of Decepticons.

This piece was inspired by a collector who not only helped introduce me to the OA community, but who also stands as a recognizable voice behind the CAF comments. He is a poet with music and a well of inspirational knowledge. We’ve had the chance to cross paths many times in the community, and he has been at OAX in spirit for multiple years running. From red pants to Goblins, he is a true ambassador of the hobby and a champion of Optimus Prime. Big thanks to this collector for the years of support and kindness.
