A David Russell hand-drawn Batmobile concept sketch from the production of Tim Burton's superhero film Batman.
The Batmobile is arguably Batman's most iconic piece of bat-themed equipment and his primary means of transportation. Russell worked as an uncredited storyboard artist on the production, and he has also worked on Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Wolverine, The Thin Red Line, and Empire of the Sun, among many others. This sketch of the Batmobile is rendered in pencil and black ink onto paper. The Batmobile which appeared in the finished film ultimately looked different to this concept sketch. It is hand-labelled "'Batmobile' Concept Sketch" and signed "David Russell '88". The page has some wear from age and use, most notably a rip along the top edge and minor staining. Dimensions: 28 cm x 34 cm (11" x 13.5")
Estimate: £1,000 - 2000
