One of only a few known surviving examples of this British Quad for the classic 1953 big-screen adaptation of H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds. The unattributed artwork showcases a stunningly vibrant rendering of the iconic Martian spaceships. The film's groundbreaking special effects earned it the Academy Award for Best Special Effects. Shot on three-strip Technicolor film, the deep, saturated palette of the red and green Martian spaceships, along with the visual effects, left cinemagoers in awe. The Technicolor process not only enhanced the vividness of the colours but also slightly reduced the resolution, helping to conceal the wires supporting the model spaceships. This Quad is undoubtedly one of the most desirable and coveted of all British movie posters and would serve as the centerpiece of any collection.
Conservation linen-backed with restoration by Dario Casadei. Restoration to some of the border and fold lines. Prior to backing there were some small tears along the fold lines on the border and some crossfold paper separation.
