Frank Frazetta Weird Science Fantasy #29 Hand-Colored Limited Signed Remarqued Print #24/50 (Russ Cochran,1973).
Prehistoric violence by fantasy master Frank Frazetta. Hand-colored in watercolors and remarqued with a curvy Frazetta girl numbered and dated "24/50 9/2/72" in the lower left corner.
Way back in the early 80's on a school trip to the Melboure Museum and the old Melbourne Jail (Ned Kelly Armor) I wandered into Minotaur Comics on Swanston Street were I not only discovered back issues of Savage of Sword of Conan but a copy of The Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta.
I found the Conan paperbacks on a supermarket spinning rack which led me to the comics but at that point I didn't know the name of the artist who convinced me to crack open those books. Like so many others I was hooked on Conan but now with a SC copy of Franks collected work I was now a freshly minted Frazetta Fan.
Those large blow ups of the Conan PB covers were amazing, so many other fantastic painting I had never seen before including the black and white image of Buck Rogers fighting caveman like creatures.
I've seen and missed the opportunity to add one of these incredible watercolor prints to my collection many times - I am so happy to have this one hanging on the wall in front of me as I type - hard not to smile every time I look up.
Please enjoy.
