Description

2 boards (18 x 24 each)

I am a huge Ian Bertram fan and always have very high hopes and anticipation whenever a new book of his comes out. Precious Metal, the prequel, and follow-up to Little Bird was just that. I have to admit, as it came out in single issues, I was a bit disappointed because of the writing. As I've gotten distance and taken another look, I've come to appreciate the book much more because it's all a showcase for Ian's visual worldbuilding and art. Everything about it, takes us to somewhere comics hasn't been.

Yes, there are many influences visible, from Blade Runner, Moebius, and more. All art is influenced by what came before it. Rarely does it come together to become something completely unique. The world, the characters of this book really become that much more impressive on further readings.

Glad to have been able to get a nice 2 page sequence of young Axe in action. These two pages have it all. The setting, the movement and drama, and the final panel with Axe's power just totally squishing the enemy with his bare hand.

The world building is so immersive!  It's like we're in the same test tube and everything is liquid.

Awesome and insanely detailed linework from Bertram! It's impressive when such busy artwork is still crystal clear in the storytelling and you can still easily see and follow what you're looking at. Fantastic pickups, congrats!

it's like if Tradd Moore was on drugs! just kidding, but definately reminds me of Tradd's work if he was Japanese.

They are studio mates! I can see their influences on each other in their recent works.

Two beautiful pages. Bertram is a master of weird organic forms.

Man, these must be so much more impressive and enjoyable to look at in person at that monster size. Really wonderful work, indeed!
