Hannes Bok - The Fox Woman & The Blue Pagoda (1946)

I had the pleasure of picking up this piece at Lauren Stump's booth during OAX 2026. It immediately spoke to me among the assortment of great works on display.

The artwork was originally untitled and came without any information about what it had been created for, but with a bit of detective work, I uncovered its history.

It was illustrated for an interior page for the book The Fox Woman & The Blue Pagoda (1946) and was also used as the cover image for a collection of plates sold by Gene Nigra in 1975.

I can see why H.P. Lovecraft used his art for so many of his stories.
