Birds of Prey #24 Page 6 by Butch Guice

Wonderful work by the late, great Butch Guice in this, the final issue of a phenomenal three-part story entitled "The Hostage Heart" - - and a demonstration of effective storytelling even within a standard 6-panel layout. I love the inkwork on Grodd's fur and Dinah's hair. I especially love the faces in panels 3 and 4. This is art that truly conveys the characters "acting" out the scene, complemented by Chuck Dixon's script with its fast-moving dialogue and subtle sense of humor.

The roughly 17 issues of Birds of Prey that Guice illustrated from 2000 to 2001 are some of my favorites, and his work looks even better in black and white.
