This Cyclops piece started as a commission from Jim Lee and was later digitally colored by Israel Silva.
Collectors may recognize Israel's work from the remastered colors he created for Jim Lee's classic 1992 Impel X-Men trading card art, which Marvel later used for a series of variant covers. Seeing that same treatment applied to a brand-new Jim Lee Cyclops piece was something I couldn't pass up.
The artwork has a familiar feel that reminds me of the iconic Impel-era Cyclops we all grew up with, while the modern colors give it a fresh energy and depth. It feels like a great blend of nostalgia and modern comic art, bringing together two artists whose work has helped define how many fans see the X-Men today.
