Psylocke (Betsy Braddock) by Michael Dooney

A gorgeous black and white headshot of Betsy as Ninja Psylocke, with the addition of her psychic knife adding a touch of menace. I love the starkness of the black and white, and there are few hints of blue that blend nicely. The hair being so dark and partially covering her face reminds me of the original Jum Lee drawings, and the whole piece also has a bit of a Terry Doson feel to me. I think this rendition of the knife is so cool, starting with some “Kirby Crackle” at the bottom and becoming more flame-like as it rises. Michael also added some lines of correction fluid in the knife, which I think adds to its fluctuating appearance. A striking piece, that I was glad to get.
