The artwork visualizes the iconic, melancholy moment from J.M. Barrie’s text where Peter attempts to reattach his shadow in the Darling nursery. Executed entirely in markers, the composition masterfully balances a split warm-and-cool palette. A burning lantern serves as a brilliant background light source, filling the left side of the canvas with high-contrast amber and ochre tones. This pushes Peter's main figure into a contemplative, low-key silhouette, highlighted by a sharp, cool blue rim light that accentuates his sharp profile, pointed fey ears, and the rugged, leaf-strewn textures of his attire.
