Spectre (Vol 4) Issue 15 Page 09

This is the first really nice Spectre page I’ve picked up in a while. I’ve missed out on a few lately—some went higher than I thought they should, and others I just wasn’t quick enough to grab. I was fortunate this one was reasonably priced, and that I acted fast enough to land it.

The fourth volume isn’t my favorite overall, but starting with this issue, Norm Breyfogle took over as artist from Ryan Sook, and things definitely stepped up a notch. From here on out, the team of Breyfogle and Dennis Janke essentially finished the run, and the artwork is amazing. Unfortunately, even that wasn’t enough to keep the series from being canceled.

This issue also features some really cool Wizard of Oz panels, with Hal Jordan reading the book to his niece. I’d love to track those pages down.  Maybe someday… somewhere… over the rainbow.
