Description

Original published interior art from Nightwing #95, page 20, penciled by Mike Lilly and inked by Andy Owens.

This memorable story page features Dick Grayson and Catalina Flores, better known as Tarantula, attempting to obtain a marriage license in Atlantic City. The page combines several strong character moments with a striking opening panel of the Atlantic City skyline.

One especially interesting historical detail is the clearly visible “TRUMP” sign atop the silhouetted hotel. The published color page establishes the setting as Atlantic City, making the building a visual reference to the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, one of the city’s best-known Boardwalk landmarks when the issue was published in 2004. Trump Plaza later closed in 2014 and was demolished in 2021, giving this page an unusual time-capsule connection to a now-vanished piece of Atlantic City history.

The scene comes from “Road to Nowhere, Part Two,” written by Devin Grayson. Following the traumatic events involving Blockbuster, Catalina pressures an emotionally conflicted Dick into applying for a marriage license before Batman’s call pulls him back toward Gotham. DC credits the issue to writer Devin Grayson, penciller Mike Lilly, and inker Andy Owens, with an original release date of July 14, 2004.

A compelling Nightwing page with:

  • Dick Grayson and Tarantula in every major character panel
  • A large, atmospheric Atlantic City establishing shot
  • A recognizable Trump Plaza reference
  • Strong romantic tension and character storytelling
  • Published pencils and inks from a significant period in Nightwing’s history
