Original concept Illustration of the ruined church altar scene from the opening flashback sequence of Hellboy (2004), created by Mike Mignola himself. This early design captures the desecrated holy grounds where Rasputin and his Nazi allies attempt to summon the Seven Gods of Chaos-Ogdru Jahad-from their crystal prisons in space. Drawn in pencil with colored pencil highlights, the composition includes crumbling pillars, saintly figures, and a human-scale silhouette annotated with an arrow labeled "HUMAN" to provide scale. Signed and dated by Mignola in the lower right corner ("7/19/02"), this piece was published on page 17 of the "Hellboy - The Art of the Movie" book (2004).
What makes this extra special is the fact that it comes directly from the collection of Guillermo del Toro.
