British artist Andrew Skilleter has illustrated hundreds of science fiction and fantasy book covers since the 70’s, but he is best known for more than two decades of work on Doctor Who related art. Skilleter showcased his talent in 1982 on a Star Wars project, illustrating ten paintings for the placemats produced by Icarus, now a defunct UK toy and game company. Although these placemats were available only in the UK, Star Wars collectors in the States and elsewhere began seeking them out for their collections. Then in 1993, the bounty hunters, one of the placemat art became part of Topps’ Star Wars Galaxy trading card set, widely revealing Skilleter’s artworks to the SW fan community.
