"Legacy" characters are increasingly popular nowadays, perhaps because of the great work done in the 1990s series Starman that mined comics history in elegant and impressive ways.

The series' eponymous protagonist wasn't the only legacy in the series, though. Here's an interior page from Starman #61 featuring the second Phantom Lady, Dee Tyler, who was the protege of the original Phantom Lady, who was the cousin of the Starman who was the father of the Jack Knight, the hero of the series.

Dee's in some trouble here, but she'll be OK; the character wouldn't be killed off until much later...
