Description

This is the original paste up concept for the commission I sent to Bob Layton asking for the JSA dps. I took various Golden Age covers and pasted them up on a sheet for Bob to work with. The Dr. Fate image is more recent but it worked for my concept of one central figure with the other images surrounding him. As you can see he chose to reconfigure the Dr. Fate image and that change resulted in the repositioning of both Dr. Mid-Nite and Hourman. My original concept had them hanging from chains held by Dr. Fate. It was always my intention to have one of the Hourman fighres converted into Dr. Mid-Nite.
You have already seen how Bob improved on my original concept and created a much more dynamic Dr. Fate image.
I also thought Bob would be able to use the Infantino, Flash 92 cover featuring Flash, Hawkman and Black Canary; the only time all three characters appeared on the same cover, but Bob chose to go in a different direction and moved the Green Lantern image to the opposite side of where I originally positioned it. He has a much better eye than I as you saw in the previous commission.
Huge thanks to the Marvel Two-in-One 76 Guy for scanning this image for me when my own scanner discected all the covers into individual images.
