DescriptionThis was such a joy to paint! I find no greater pleasure than painting big cats. It has been an ambition of mine for several years now to transition over to wildlife art, specifically big cats. I have an entire series of girl/cat paintings planned out for the next year to help bridge the gap between Fantasy and Wildlife Art. During this time I'm planning an African photo safari to gather as much reference and firsthand experience as possible. I've long admired the work of such brilliant wildlife artists as John Seerey-Lester and Simon Combes (my personal wildlife art god) who was ironically killed last year by an African cape buffalo while on a reference shoot. I'm as excited about the challenge as I am nervous, but really feel the need to follow that voice to see where it leads. 12"x19"Social/Sharing |

Probably the first time I've left a comment on the same piece in two different galleries, but this is one special piece! While your many fans in the Fantasy/Super Hero genre will be sorry to see you move on, I'd like to extend my very best wishes to you on the exciting transitional road ahead. The African safari sounds AMAZNING and should be a blast! For someone who loves to paint big cats, I can't think of anything more exciting than seeing them in their natural element. Have a great time and I'll be looking forward to the fruits of your journey!

Joe, I don't care what you're painting, so long as you keep sharing it with us. You're an amazing talent.

I just recently commented on the fact that where do you draw the line between Comic book art and Fine art and your gallery was in mind when I said this. I think you made that transition years ago and we have all had the joy of watching your art continue to evolve. Your journey ahead echos of an ERB story just waiting to be painted by you! Congrats on this beautiful painting and I raise my glass in a toast to those ahead and I hope they continue to honor the CAF galleries.

Mr. Jusko, you are one of my all time favorite artists. I remember salivating when I first laid my eyes on your Marvel Masterpiece cards as a boy. One of my grail pieces is a painted Gunslinger (from the Dark Tower) commission (maybe one day). I absolutely love this painting and think you are an artistic genius. Thank you for sharing your work.

I just snuck out of work to pick up your new art book – in a word BEAUTIFUL! This is the perfect painting to represent all you have achieved as the cover. Congratulations, you must be very proud. Thanks for all the wonderful artwork.

Well Joe, I now have a new favorite from your stable. This painting is breath-taking. I recently saw my favorite Vampi painting from you again in person (Revelations--with Vampi in front of that gnarly tree), and I must admit, it's like love---even better the second time around! Yet, if I saw this one in person, it may even nudge that Revelations painting aside as your best to date. BRAVO!!!
