Description

I saw whilce portacio arrive early Friday at the 2004 SDCC, and he had �stormwatch: team achilles� covers and interiors. I asked how much, and someone with him (his wife?) said they would be on sale on Saturday. I wouldn�t be there Saturday, so I begged. She told me to come back later. I did, about 5. she told me to come back later. I did, about 6. she told me to come back later. I did, about 6:30. so she, whilce and two other people studied the pages I wanted to buy. they huddled, trying to figure out prices. They came back with prices from $125 to more than $2,000. he had one splash page that I just loved, and coincidentally it cost EXACTLY how much I had left in my wallet. So I spent my last dime with about 20 minutes left at the show.
this is a good example of the occasionally visceral violence that punctuated S:TA. shortly after this page, the smaller character throws an explosive down the larger character's mouth and detonates it right about when the ordnance reached his throat. i would've loved to have that page, too. but, as i said, this page cost me every cent i had left during my last few minutes of the con.

I really enjoyed this series too-- great page! Scott Williams' inks over Whilce are sublime.
