Phoenix - A Light in the Shadows by Emily Seal

The Phoenix Saga changed comic books forever, as the sheltered female character, nestled into a team of males, took the forefront of the story and became more capable, more proactive, and more powerful than her fellows. Jean Grey, previously called upon as backup, or considered an auxillary member of the team, gave her life to save her teammates, and rose a goddess. Jean is the team member that nurtures the dream, feeds it, keeps it alive. Phoenix is the embodiment of life, and Jean Grey is the heart of the X-Men.

From a hand drawn wire frame to a mouse-driven PSP creation, to pay tribute to my favorite mutant and to celebrate ten years in digital illustration by recreating the first character I created on a computer, Ms. Jean Grey.
