Love & Rocket's dynamic duo; Maggie & Hopey. This ink illustration was created in 1982, the year the first Fantagraphics issue of Love & Rockets was published (a year after the Hernandez Brothers self-published the very first issue of L&R in 1981). On the other side of the drawing appears to be the pencils for a rejected Mechanics page.

This drawing is published in the gorgeous hardcover book "The Art of Jaime Hernandez" by Todd Hignite. The book is a must have for the true Jaime Hernandez fan!
