Description

I was at Macworld Expo in San Francisco, desperately trying to cover everything happening on the show floor on the very last day. I wanted to spend some time at the Axiotron booth. The company had made a big splash at last year's show with early editions of their new Modbook Mac tablet; as authorized Apple Solution Providers, they buy MacBooks from Apple and rebuild them as tablets with Cintiq-based pressure sensitive screens.

A gent gave me a good demo and answered all of my questions. But I was distracted by his name badge. I knew that I'd seen that name in a comic somewhere...but I couldn't place it. Finally found the courage to ask and he happily confirmed that he was indeed a working comic artist and rattled off some recent credits. Aha! Yup, I was remembering him from his art in "Buffy The Vampire Slayer."

In truth, the Axiotron booth was like a super-top-secret Comicon Artists Alley: the company was smart enough to hire artists to give all the demos. I made a careful tour of the half-dozen demo stations and I spotted two or three people whom I recognized either from comics or from their galleries on Deviant Art and the other usual spots.

I wound up swapping emails with Paul and he was kind enough to draw me this Tigra (on his Modbook, of course!)
