Description

I don't have many favorite comic books characters, but Captain America is certainly one of them. I had never seen a Toth drawing of Cap before, and while small, the piece is really a little gem. The reverse side of the piece features one of Toth's cramped-writing rants to the recipient. Makes it kind of perfect. I had to play with the contrast a bit, as more of the writing from the back shows through. I also blurred the recipient's name and address on the postcard.

A kind collector soul pointed out the Jack Kirby reference on the drawing. I was a bit slow on the uptake, but the letters (JKVIAATISNG) translates to: Jack Kirby via Alex Toth is no good! Looks pretty damn good to me!
